Larnaca Castle

History

Larnaca Castle is a historic Ottoman structure situated on the southern coast of Cyprus. Due to its strategic location, the castle served defensive purposes for centuries. It was restored by the Ottomans in the late 17th century and served both military and administrative functions. The inscriptions within the castle bear important Ottoman-era marks. At various times, it was used as a prison and a police station. Today, it functions as a museum welcoming visitors. With its historical texture and seaside location, it is one of the prominent examples of Ottoman heritage in Cyprus.
