Köprülü Hacı İbrahim Ağa Mosque in Limassol
It was built in 1826 by Köprülü Hacı İbrahim Ağa, one of the leading figures in Limassol, and a foundation was established on 7.6.1826 for this purpose.
However, since this mosque was completely destroyed in the flood caused by the flooding of Garilli Creek in 1894, the current mosque was built in its place between 1.8.1906-28.8.1913.
There are three tombs, two of which are undecorated and one of them decorated, in the garden of the mosque. The undecorated ones belong to the foundation owner Köprülü Hacı İbrahim Ağa and his son Hacı Hüseyin Ağa. The decorated tomb belongs to Süleyman Pasha, who died in 1853/54. The fact that the tombstone is capped with a fez indicates that this person was a civil servant. As a matter of fact, it is claimed that this person was the Mayor (Şehremini) of Leymosun during the Ottoman period.
