Like all the major mosques built in the Turkish period of Cyprus, it has a rectangular architectural structure that extends transversely.

Also known as Ağa Cafer Paşa Mosque, the building was built in the XVI century by Cyprus Governor Cafer Paşa. It was built at the end of the century.

In its endowment charter, which was drawn up in Muharram 1008 (August 1599), it is stated that many farms, gardens, fields, olive groves, houses, warehouses, barns, etc., were dedicated to the mosque in Cyprus. The mosque, which was in the hands of the EOKA terrorist organization before 1974, was repaired (September 1974-July 1975) with the help of an association founded after the Cyprus Peace Operation, the Department of Foundations and Religious Affairs (September 1974-July 1975).
