Historical Samanbahçe Mass Housing

The construction, which started with 60 modest residences built on the land belonging to the Şaban Pasha Foundation during the period of Musa İrfan Efendi's Evkaf Management between 1918-1925, reached 72 houses in 9 streets in total, including those built in 1955-1957. The houses, which are the first examples of the contemporary social housing concept on the Island, which were planned to be rented out to families in need by the Cyprus Foundations Administration at reasonable prices, were depreciated due to ageing, and were financed by UNOPS United Nations Office for Project Services in September 2003. They were renewed as a result of the restoration initiated and carried out by the Cyprus Foundations Administration.
