- The heart of trade, art, and cultural encounters for centuries -

Constructed in 1572 by the Ottomans as a caravanserai, the Büyük Han (The Great Inn of Nicosia) is not only the largest inn in Cyprus but also one of its finest examples of civil Ottoman architecture. Its two-story courtyard structure reflects elegant Ottoman design details. Throughout history, it served as a meeting point for merchants, travelers, and locals. Over time, it assumed various functions, including serving as a prison in the 20th century. Today, it has been restored and is home to art studios, cafés, and handicraft shops, making it one of the liveliest and most visited historical sites within the Nicosia city walls. It continues to thrive as a dynamic center contributing to cultural life.
