History
Established in the 17th century, the Mevlevi Tekke is the most important representation of Mevlevi culture in Cyprus. During the Ottoman era, it functioned as a religious and cultural center where Mevlevi dervishes performed their spiritual rituals and whirling ceremonies. Today, it operates as a museum displaying dervish garments, musical instruments, and archival documents. It offers insights into Mevlevi lifestyle, Sufi music, and the whirling ceremony. Its serene atmosphere transports visitors to a different time. It stands as one of the most important historical sites preserving the Sufi tradition in Cyprus.
