The first challenge of the "Zero Waste Garbage Collection Marathon" event, organised under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, took place in the Boğaz Picnic area in the Kyrenia region.

The event, which will take place at 4 different points in May, aims to spread environmental awareness and zero waste awareness.

The Goodness Volunteers of the Cyprus Foundations Administration (Evkaf), which sets an example to the society with its activities on the environment, also supported the event organised in cooperation with the Environment Department and the Youth Federation.

In the event organised to promote environmental cleanliness in the country, the first two teams "collecting the most garbage", "collecting the most recyclable garbage" and "collecting the most glass" will receive a total of 40 thousand TL.

The garbage collection marathon will take place in Nicosia on 11 May, Famagusta on 18 May and Güzelyurt - Lefke regions on 25 May.
