Arabahmet Mosque

Location: It is located in the west of Nicosia Arap Ahmet District, at the corner where Martyr Salahi Şevket Street meets Mufti Ziyai Street.
Opening: Built on a ruined Latin church in the 16th century, this mosque took its name from Arap Ahmet Pasha, who commanded the army during the conquest of Nicosia by the Ottoman army.
Current functionality: The mosque is open for worship and visits. A Sakal-ı Şerif in a glass bottle in a box is shown to those who go there on holy days.
Definition of Sakal-ı Şerif: Hz. Muhammad's s.a.v. It is his beard preserved in glass that is opened to visitors on special religious days.
Exterior-Interior Spaces: It is the only rectangular mosque in Cyprus with a typical Turkish dome. The mosque consists of a large hemispherical dome, three smaller domes and the main building. There is a porch in front of the mosque, a fountain in the courtyard, cypress trees and graves of important Ottoman statesmen and persons.
