A Scientist Considered as the Father of Surgery in Europe: Al-Zahravi
Zahravi, who was one of the world's leading physicians in the Middle Ages and whose works were included in the Turkish-Islamic Science History Exhibition in 100 Objects, which met our country last November and accepted guests until the end of February, is considered the father of surgery in Europe. His greatest contribution to medicine is undoubtedly his book, Kitab al-Tasrif, which consists of 30 volumes and was written over 50 years.
Many diseases, treatments and surgical procedures are described in its content, and more than 200 Medical instruments are described.
It is even stated that some surgical procedures are used even today.
The 14 dental tools that Zahravi described in his book Al-tasrif for removing tartar were included in the Turkish-Islamic History of Science in 100 Objects Exhibition.
