A study was initiated to increase awareness of traffic safety and to prevent the use of mobile phones in traffic.

The presentation of the study, which was carried out with the contributions of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Evkaf Goodness Volunteers and the Northern Cyprus Offroad Association, was held on the Nicosia-Girne Highway.

The promotion was attended by the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Officialye Eroğlu Canaltay, and the General Manager of Cyprus Foundations Administration, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Benter and Chairman of the Northern Cyprus Offroad Association Hulus Eren attended.
The president of the association, Hulus Eren, in his speech at the presentation, said that they carried out this project with the awareness of social responsibility in order to raise awareness against the harm of mobile phone use.
Eren thanked Canaltay and Benter for their contributions, and expressed the belief that the study would especially attract the attention of children and warn families.
Mustafa Şamil, Nicosia Kindness Volunteers Coordinator, also noted that the little ones are very careful, even though the adults do not heed the warnings.
Shamil pointed out how distracting it is to spend time on the phone in traffic and wanted everyone to take responsibility in traffic.

CANALTAY:

Minister Canaltay also thanked everyone who contributed to the realization of the project.
Explaining that the scope of the ministry is very wide, and that they work hard especially for life safety and infrastructure in traffic, Canaltay drew attention to traffic accidents in the country.
Stating that drunk and careless driving is in the first place in traffic accidents, but now looking at mobile phones, messaging and social media has an important place, Canaltay hoped that the work they started today would prevent these accidents to some extent.
Canaltay wanted the public to increase their awareness in traffic and to pay attention only to the road.
