Established with the understanding of philanthropy and solidarity, Cyprus Foundations Administration, which has survived for about 5 centuries, is one of the oldest foundation institutions.

Starting from the day the island came under the Ottoman rule, the initiatives and efforts of especially the statesmen (Sultan, vizier and other high-ranking officials) and anyone who has the power to establish foundations have increased the number of foundations established from that period to the present day to two thousand.

Immediately after the conquest in 1571, Sultan II. With the numerous foundations established and developed with the encouragement of Selim, this institution was rooted throughout the island.
