Ersin Tatar: She was a lady who founded the first foundation in Cyprus.
On the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, a series of events were organized under the leadership of the Cyprus Foundations Administration.
Referring to the achievements of our women, President Ersin Tatar, who participated in the events, said, "We know that our women have a hearty, courageous and successful history. Our women established foundations, integrated with the society and provided services for the society. In fact, a lady was the first to establish a foundation.
We appreciate the struggle of our women from the Ottoman period until today," she said.
İbrahim Benter, General Manager of the Cyprus Foundations Administration.
"The foundation founded by one of our grandmothers 300 years, 400 years ago has educated poor children for centuries. And still today, we provide scholarships to our students and repair our schools with the income of those foundations.
In the same way, like our grandmothers who established foundations centuries ago, it is our women who carry out foundation and charitable works the most in the society today," he said.
The women who founded foundations participating in the event also conveyed what was done in the foundation work and the process they went through.
While plaques were presented to the women who founded the foundation, the importance of both our grandmothers and today's women in charity work, as well as their place in our culture, was re-emphasized.
