According to the written statement from Evkaf, as previously announced, Evkaf's membership of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects Union (KTMMOB) in December 2020 to measure the durability of Deniz Yildizi apartments, which are over 50 years old, against a possible earthquake and to propose scientific strengthening methods. Reminding that he requested a report on the subject, it was pointed out that the expert report was completed in May 2021 as a result of an intensive work lasting 5-6 months by the expert team determined by KTMMOB.
According to the results of the report, it was stated that "it is not possible to provide the expected 'life safety' in the event of a possible earthquake in the current state conditions", and it was noted in the newly prepared expert report that the level of danger in the building has increased.
After the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake that occurred in Turkey, within the scope of the damage assessment study carried out by Deniz Yıldızı apartments, which had serious corrosion damage, in the last days, it was stated in the new report that a dangerous level of additional damage was observed in the columns compared to the previous year. As of now, it poses a danger to life safety and should be sealed and closed within the framework of a safe distance immediately.
