Located in Nicosia Selimiye District, the two-storey Büyük Han, which reflects the general characteristics of Ottoman inn architecture, has historically been the largest inn in Cyprus.
Built in the 1570s, the building is supported by pointed arched porticoes surrounding the courtyard. In the middle of the courtyard, there is a kiosk mosque.
While Ottoman inns typically have a single entrance door, the Büyük Han has two entrances.
Apart from its original purpose, the Büyük Han, which was used as a prison and renting rooms to low-income families in certain periods, serves as a cultural center where various shops, workshops, different arts are performed, and concerts and exhibitions are held. Among the shops and workshops, traditional Cypriot handicrafts make up the largest portion, with most of the tenants being women who produce.
Other venues in the inn include a coffee shop and restaurant.
