Making a statement on the occasion of 8 March Women's Day, Cyprus Foundations Administration General Manager İbrahim Benter talked about the importance of women in Cyprus foundation culture and the place of women in charity work.

Benter, although Cyprus is a small island, our ancestors, grandparents and grandparents established 2200 foundations.

This shows how sensitive our ancestors were in charity work and doing good.

Half of the 2200 foundations established were established by our grandmothers. Both the first and the last foundation established in Cyprus were founded by our grandmothers, that is, by a woman.

Founded by a grandmother 400 years ago, the foundation has been able to educate poor children for centuries. And still today, we provide scholarships to our students and repair our schools with the income of those foundations.

For example, this year we started the construction of a new school building in İskele.

Our grandmothers helped everyone, regardless of nationality, race or religion, while doing charity activities.

400 years ago, our women and grandmothers set an example to the whole world. Because when you look at these charitable works, you cannot see that so many foundations were established by women anywhere in the world.
