History
Located on the rocky coastline east of Kyrenia, the Tomb and Mosque of Hz. Ömer is a revered spiritual site. According to tradition, Hz. Ömer and six of his companions were martyred during Arab raids and buried here. The area was later developed during the Ottoman period into a small mosque and shrine. Noted for its simplicity, the site offers a serene atmosphere for prayer and reflection. The tomb area contains seven individual graves, and the mosque’s upper floor features modest rooms for caretakers. This site provides visitors with a meaningful spiritual experience and stands as an important religious and cultural heritage site in Kyrenia.
