The visits to the Hala Sultan Lodge, organized in cooperation with the Cyprus Foundations Administration and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, also took place with intense participation on the Mevlid Kandili.
The group of 600 people departed from the Metehan Border Gate and reached the Hala Sultan Lodge in Larnaca.
The visitors, who were happy to be at the Hala Sultan Lodge on such a special day, toured the tomb and performed their prayers.
Who is Hala Sultan?
The name of Umm Haram bint Milhan, known as Hala Sultan with her tomb and the social complex built in her name on the shores of Salt Lake near Larnaca, is stated as er-Rümeysá or el-Gumeysâ in some sources.
According to the Hadith Sharif in Bukhari, our prophet Hz. Muhammad (pbuh) saw in his dream that Hala Sultan would be one of the first (sea veterans) and would participate in a sea expedition.
Hala Sultan took part in the first sea voyage to Cyprus between 648-649 and set off from the port of Akka to Cyprus. Hala Sultan, who was too old to walk during the voyage, died as a martyr after falling off a mule in the area where her tomb is currently located in Larnaca and was buried there.

When the Ottoman fleet sailed to the Mediterranean and came within line of Larnaca, they saluted Hala Sultan with three cannon shots. There is an intense love for Hala Sultan in the hearts of the entire Islamic world, the Turkish world and especially the Turkish Cypriots.

After the conquest of Cyprus by the Ottoman Empire in 1571, a tomb and a mosque were built here and it became one of the most important places of pilgrimage after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem.
