Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer Discusses Foundation Civilization with Dr. Devlet Bahçeli

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, Director General of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Himmet Karadal, met with Dr. Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party, for a comprehensive discussion on the importance of foundation civilization and academic studies.

During the meeting, foundation civilization and academic studies were considered as one of the fundamental axes forming intellectual and institutional depth. It was emphasized that foundation civilization is not merely a historical legacy; it represents a sustainable management approach centered on social solidarity, social justice, and public benefit. It was stated that foundations function as a complementary element of state-society relations in a wide range of areas within Turkish-Islamic civilization, from education and health to urban planning and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer and Prof. Dr. Himmet Karadal highlighted the importance of reinterpreting foundation civilization through academic studies in the context of contemporary conditions. During the meeting, topics such as the historical development of foundation law and its relationship with modern public administration, the current role of foundations in social policy, education, and cultural heritage, models of scientific cooperation that can be established between academia and public institutions, and the strategic planning, governance, and sustainability dimensions of foundation-based institutions were discussed in detail.

It was also stated that joint research, symposiums, and publication activities to be carried out between universities and foundation institutions would contribute to strengthening the concept of foundation civilization, transforming it from a theoretical concept into a practical model that responds to the needs of the age. The parties exchanged views on the potential of this approach to produce lasting and high-quality values ​​for both the academic world and the social structure.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer presented Dr. Devlet Bahçeli with an important work compiled from the Sharia Registers published by the Cyprus Evkaf  Administration, which sheds light on the Ottoman period, drawing attention to the importance of cultural heritage.
