This statement is deemed necessary to inform the public correctly regarding recent news reports in some media outlets concerning Yavuz Landing Beach.

Yavuz Landing Beach is not just an ordinary coastal area; it is a historical and spiritually significant site that holds a special place in the collective memory of our nation, commemorating the sacred memory of our martyrs and marking the first landing point of the Cyprus Peace Operation on July 20, 1974.

As the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, protecting foundation properties and safeguarding our history and national values ​​is our fundamental responsibility. The lease agreement for the property in question expired in 2024. The property remains under the ownership of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, and there has been no change in ownership structure.

A consultation and coordination process has been carried out among the relevant institutions to preserve the historical fabric of Yavuz Landing Beach, to keep the spirit of July 20, 1974 alive, and to present the area as an open-air museum for future generations. Within this scope, the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command has also initiated the process regarding protection and arrangement works.

As a result of these evaluations, the Cyprus Evkaf Administration Board of Directors, in its decision dated June 3, 2026, decided to lease the property to the Security Forces Command for 30 years.

We would like the public to know that this transaction is not a transfer of ownership; its status as foundation property remains unchanged. The main purpose of this decision is to ensure that the area is managed in a manner consistent with the public interest, while preserving its historical, cultural, and spiritual value.

The process was not carried out unilaterally; it was the result of mutual consultation, coordination, and official evaluations by all relevant state institutions.

Yavuz Landing Beach is a place of remembrance representing the struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriot people, the memory of the July 20, 1974 Peace Operation, and the sacrifice of our martyrs. Efforts to protect this area and pass it on to future generations will continue with determination.
