Sarayonu Mosque

The area where Sarayönü Mosque is located in the Surlariçi region of Nicosia was called “Orduönü Square” in the Ottoman period. While it is recorded in some sources that a small mosque was built in the name of Kıncı (Kılıç) Ali Pasha in 1690/91, in some sources it is recorded that the mosque was known by the name of Ali Pasha in 1820-1824. It is also known that valuable wooden materials were used on the ceiling of the mosque, which is in a very central location.

It served as a mosque at first, and when the official marriage law became mandatory in the TRNC, it was used as a marriage hall.

As of 2005, it was converted into a mosque as a place of worship and continues to serve as a mosque today.
