Statement Regarding the Renovation Works of Hamitköy Mosque

This statement is deemed necessary to provide accurate information to the public regarding recent news reports in the media concerning the building in the Hamitköy region, known publicly as the "Religious Site Mosque."

The mosque in question will be renovated by expanding its capacity, in accordance with relevant legislation and technical reports, and based on public benefit, as its current capacity is insufficient to meet the increasing worship needs of the local community. The works to be carried out do not have any historical, political, or ideological aims and are solely aimed at increasing the functionality of the building. In this context, the existing minaret will be preserved, the administration building constructed with Libyan support will be maintained, and only the prayer area will be expanded to meet the needs. All applications will be carried out within the framework of current zoning, cultural heritage, and foundation legislation, with the approval and supervision of the relevant institutions and under the support of benefactors.

The Cyprus Evkaf Administration and the Directorate of Religious Affairs continue their work while protecting the historical and spiritual values ​​of the foundation properties under their responsibility, and also considering the current needs of the community.
