Turkish Delight Foundation Established in Nicosia
A foundation was established by Ahmet Rifat Mehmed on September 30, 1954, saying, "A hatim is a mawlid in the Tahtakale Mosque in Nicosia".
The cost of the Turkish delight or other sweets to be given to the congregation on the occasion of the marshmallow sheriff and the Mawlid was made available to the citizens, provided that the expense of the body of the trustee is to be taken from the body of the trustee. In other words, the treats distributed to the congregation due to the marshmallow sheriff and the Mevlid were covered by this foundation. The wide spectrum of foundation culture and what it means to be magnanimous are better understood, especially with foundations specific to Cyprus.
Today, the Cyprus Foundations Administration also provides Turkish delight, bite and similar treats to the citizens at oil lamp nights, keeping the foundations established for this purpose alive and protecting our culture.
