The 2nd Birkan Uzun Summit Run was held yesterday under the main sponsorship of EVKAF

The 'Birkan Long Summit Run' organized by the TRNC Athletics Federation under the main sponsorship of EVKAF for the second time this year was held yesterday.

The 'Birkan Long Summit Run', organized for the second time this year by the TRNC Athletics Federation under the main sponsorship of the Cyprus Foundations Administration (Evkaf), was held on Sunday, June 4th.

The race, which is traditionally organized to keep alive the memory of Uzun, who climbed to the highest peaks of the world on his way with the slogan "7 Continents 7 Summits" and finally achieved the success of reaching the summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica. It was held on Birkan Uzun Selvili Hill with the slogan of “Tough Race”.

Making a speech at the beginning of the competition, Birkan Uzun's father, Cengiz Topel Uzun, thanked the participants and wished that the race, which was held in Mersinlik last year, will continue to be held in the place where its name was given this year and from now on. “He was a boy who loved heights,” said Uzun, “He was also a child who was interested in running marathons and climbing mountains, just like you. We strive to keep his name alive and set an example for other young people. I would like to thank the president of the Athletics Federation and his team for their efforts in this matter.”

TAZEGÜL AND KAYA WAS FIRST

The organization, which was held on a challenging 8.2 kilometer track, started at the square where Birkan Uzun was pictured and ended at the Karşıyaka picnic area. At the end of the race, Hakan Tazegül in the men's general classification and Esra Kaya in the women's general classification succeeded to be the first. At the ceremony held, the winners were presented with their medals as well as certificates.
