Cyprus Evkaf Administration Holds Mother's Day Event for Mothers of Children with Special Needs

The Cyprus Evkaf Administration held an event today in its front garden for mothers of children with special needs, in honor of Mother's Day.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the mothers had the opportunity to share both the challenges they face and their requests for solutions.

The event was attended by the Director General of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, and the First Lady, Nilden Bektaş Erhürman.

Mothers who spoke at the event drew attention to accessibility issues encountered in education.

One mother stated that her child's school lacked accessible toilets and requested that this deficiency be addressed. The mothers also expressed their expectations for increased social support, the widespread implementation of measures to facilitate children's daily lives, and the strengthening of public awareness.

The Director General of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, stated that the Evkaf Administration strives to support all segments of society within its means.

Tümer said, “Today we are here not only to celebrate Mother's Day, but also to listen to you. Every problem you face is a shared responsibility of society. It is not easy to describe the struggle of mothers of children with special needs. You dedicate great effort to your children in every aspect of life.

As Evkaf, we try to provide support within our means. The important thing is to make people feel that we are there for them. Sometimes a seemingly small need can mean a great deal to a family. Every request voiced today is valuable to us.”

The President's wife, Nilden Bektaş Erhürman, also drew attention to the importance of the responsibility undertaken by mothers of children with special needs.

Erhürman stated, “Being a mother is a difficult journey in itself. Mothers of children with special needs take on many roles simultaneously. The struggle you wage for your children is truly invaluable. The issues raised today are a demand for a more accessible and sensitive life.”

At the end of the event, gifts were presented to the mothers, and all mothers were wholeheartedly congratulated on Mother's Day.
